New: Chain Gang series
Chain Gang chain-bottom cast nets
A solid lead chain where the ball weights used to be. We built it from the ground up and spent a couple of years dialing it in, and the performance has blown us away. Coming November 2026, in 8, 10 and 12 ft, backed by our half-price replacement warranty.
- Pops wide open with barely any force
- Closes fast and tight: no daylight
- Extremely hard to tangle
Ball weights vs. a chain bottom
Most cast nets carry their lead as separate weights spaced along the leadline. The Chain Gang carries it as one continuous lead chain.
TraditionalBall-weighted leadline
The lead is spaced out in separate weights.
On the bottom, the leadline lifts between weights, leaving gaps where bait can slip out.
More separate pieces to catch in the mesh.
Chain GangChain-bottom leadline
One continuous lead chain, all the way around.
Lies flat on the bottom with no gaps, so less bait escapes.
Closes fast and extremely tight with little effort.
Extremely hard to tangle.

One throw, start to finish: the chain bottom opens wide, gets down, and comes back up loaded with bait.

Chain Gang questions
When can I buy a Chain Gang net?
They're coming in November 2026. Sign up above and we'll email you as soon as they're in stock.
What sizes and prices will there be?
8 ft ($195, 1.1 lb/ft of lead), 10 ft ($240) and 12 ft ($265, both 1.4 lb/ft), all with 1/4" mesh. 3/8" mesh models are on the way too.
Is the Chain Gang covered by the warranty?
Yes. Like every Dropout net, if it fails for any reason you get a new one at half price, for life.
Does the Chain Gang work in deep water and strong current?
Yes. Its panel design and continuous lead chain keep the net open while it sinks, so it still covers the bottom in deep water or fast-moving current. Capt. Justin Moore says it throws with ease, lays flat and sinks fast to the bottom.
How is a chain bottom different from a regular cast net?
A regular net carries its lead as separate weights spaced along the leadline. The Chain Gang uses one continuous lead chain, so it opens with less effort, closes fast and tight, is very hard to tangle, and lies flat on the bottom with no gaps for bait to slip through.
